This policy establishes the environment of respect and cooperation essential for all students.
1. Core Principles
Our behaviour policy is built upon the TELS Core Values: Respect, Integrity, and Community. We focus on positive reinforcement, teaching self-regulation, and promoting social-emotional development in every student.
2. Expected Student Behaviour
Students at TELS are expected to:
Respect Others: Treat all staff, teachers, and peers kindly, using polite language at all times.
Respect Property: Take care of school resources, equipment, and the personal belongings of others.
Be Ready to Learn: Arrive at class on time, prepared with necessary materials, and listen quietly when others are speaking.
Be Safe: Follow all instructions from staff, especially during movement, physical education, and emergency drills.
3. Disciplinary Procedure (Focus on Primary Levels)
Our procedure is designed to be corrective and educational, not punitive.
Level 1 (Intervention): Verbal reminder/warning, change of seat or task, brief discussion with the teacher about the expected behaviour.
Level 2 (Documentation): Teacher communicates with the Principal and the parents via a brief written note or phone call outlining the behaviour and the steps taken.
Level 3 (Action): Meeting with the Principal and Parents to create a support plan. This may involve temporary removal from an activity or a short period of in-school reflection, always with adult supervision and coaching.
Zero Tolerance: Bullying (physical, verbal, or social), deliberate damage to property, and violence are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate parent notification and action by the Principal.
This policy ensures the physical well-being and security of all students while on campus.
1. General Safety and Supervision
Supervision: Students are supervised by TELS staff at all times, including during arrival, dismissal, recesses, and lunch.
Visitor Access: All visitors must report immediately to the main school office, sign the visitor log, and wear a visible visitor badge. Access to instructional areas is restricted.
Emergency Procedures: The school conducts fire and emergency evacuation drills [Specify frequency, e.g., once per term]. All staff are trained on emergency protocols.
2. Health and First Aid
Medical Room: A designated, equipped Medical Room with a qualified Nurse is available during all school operating hours.
First Aid: All minor injuries will be assessed and treated by the school nurse or a trained staff member. Parents will be contacted for any head injuries or moderate to severe incidents.
Illness: Students who present with fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or contagious illnesses must be picked up immediately. Students must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school.
Medication: Prescription medication can only be administered by the school nurse, and only if accompanied by a signed Parent/Guardian Authorization Form detailing dosage and timing.
3. Allergies and Medical Conditions
Parents must disclose all allergies and chronic medical conditions during the enrolment process.
The school maintains a comprehensive log of all known allergies, and specific classroom and cafeteria protocols will be implemented (e.g., "nut-free" tables or classroom zones).
